Ellen DeGeneres is overwhelming me with her tweets. She must have a whole staff sending stuff every time something happens on her show.Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09239845334483948468noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5079131409815643669.post-27858482025702898432009-04-17T15:52:00.001-07:002009-04-17T15:54:10.476-07:00Thanks!Just wanted to say "Thanks!" to all the folks that brought 27 Things to SPL and have worked so hard to make it a success! I'm having so much fun with it (and, oh yeah, learning stuff too).Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09239845334483948468noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5079131409815643669.post-13409086368856979682009-04-16T15:20:00.000-07:002009-04-16T15:33:21.984-07:00a new (to me) techno thingSince I'm going on vacation next week. (Whoo hoo! Whoopie! Yay! Hot dog! YESSSSS! Where was I??? Oh yeah, technology)...anyway, I thought I'd get a jump on week three of the 27 Things.
We're supposed to create a post about a techno-thing that interests us this week. Well, I'm still impressed with something that Chris Freeman showed me the other week and that's qr codes. You can sign up and use the site qrcode.kaywa.com to create an image that represents a url for any site you want. You download the reader to your phone and use the phone like a camera to view the code and it takes you right to the site. Museums in Japan are posting the codes by their pieces for folks to access additional information about the exhibits. Now, how can we use this for summer reading.....Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09239845334483948468noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5079131409815643669.post-82420869714080152722009-04-15T16:09:00.000-07:002009-04-15T16:16:49.900-07:00Where are my crayons???Just saw the templates for the summer reading posters. So cool! And the game board is nothing like we've done before. Black and white so you can print them in the branch with a graphic to color as you read. And coloring the graphic is a part of the "Get Creative/Express Yourself" theme. I'm looking forward to pulling out the old crayons and getting started. Let's play!Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09239845334483948468noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5079131409815643669.post-1400300316621476482009-04-14T12:45:00.000-07:002009-04-14T13:01:00.053-07:0071/2 Habits - Easy or Hard? The hardest of the 7 1/2 habits for me is #1. "Begin with the end in mind." I can do it, and I often find it useful to know where I want to end up...but...I love just trying new things to see what happens. It's a way of learning by experience, and it's fun to have surprises.
That said, you can guess that the easiest of the habits for me is #71/2. "Play." I love to play and goof around, maybe that's why I try to surround myself with kids and teens. They're looking to play, too. They must play in order to learn. You take away playing from a child, make him/her sit still with their hands folded in their laps, and you take away their most effective way to learn.
So I'm thinkin' this 27 Things stuff is going to make it easier than ever to learn new technology tricks! Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09239845334483948468noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5079131409815643669.post-4656480190973899712009-04-13T16:15:00.000-07:002009-04-13T16:22:14.661-07:00newbie to postingOk, this is exciting. Can I claim to be a published author once I hit "publish post"? Summer reading is coming along great, thanks to all the help from the team. Hope everyone will have fun with it starting June 13th!Cathyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09239845334483948468noreply@blogger.com1
